365 Days after the big event, Baby K is taking her first independent steps (a day before 12 months on the planet), nodding her head in agreement, eating "adult" food and generally being an amazing baby. Kalyna is joyous, stubborn, mechanically inclined and amazingly active. We really lucked out with this one and couldn't hae asked for more in a baby. We have no complaints except that she's not growing very quickly and is designing her own growth curve. The year has flown by in retrospect, but various days, and sometimes hours, have taken a verrrrrry long time. It's allowed me to be present for this year, and in the moment much of the time, so I don't feel as though it's all slipped away so suddenly. I DO however feel that most of the year my head has been cloudy. This, along with the sleep deprivation issue and adjustment to motherhood, may not allow me to recall all of the details of this first year of life too accurately in the future.
