Where does the time fly to?? My goodness, we are 2 months old now and picking up steam on a daily basis. Kalyna is now in Vancouver, BC (with her parents of course) She managed through a week-long car trip from San Francisco up HWY 101 packed into the Mazda 3 along with many of our clothes, electronics, F's cello and her sleeping mattress. What a journey that was: gorgeous coastlines, sunny weather, beautiful views from our hotels on the beach and only one very cranky day after I ate a spicy Thai dinner the night before - boy did we pay for that mistake! Sorry baby.
We did almost lose her to immigration officers at the customs interview when I enthusiastically proclaimed that we brought Kalyna up from SF during our household goods declaration. The officer looked at us like we were bringing up an adopted or smuggled child - I quickly backpeddled explaining that indeed she was OURS, and that we birthed her in SF. Yikes.
Kalyna's favorite trick at present is to pee all over herself and the change pad (and you if you're in the way) right after you've wiped her down and removed her diaper for changing - it's caught me off guard at least 5 times in the last week and a half... not a fast learner this mommy of hers.
Some amazing developmental changes have begun to occur. Kalyna is vocalizing like mad throughout the day, and is saying "hello" to her mommy and daddy after feedings and during changes. F has started teaching her to wave, and she is now flapping her arm and giggling saying her gargled "hello"!
She is also incredibly strong and is able to stand up on her feet and hold up her own weight for 20+ seconds at a time as long as you hold her arms... F believes that she is entirely going to skip the crawling phase and I'm starting to think that this is what's going to happen as well. Whoa there little doggy - this incredible person of ours is going to be moving around way more quickly then I could have ever imagined - she's really amazing.
